I can’t blog at work right now because of the horrifically slow Dell on my desk and my current use of iWeb for blogging. I hope this doesn’t get in the way of NaBloPoMo too much. What it could do, though, is set up either a late night or an early morning blog habit. What I would have blogged about earlier at work was the incredibly surreal City of Work, a project that uses visual rhetoric to say some pithy things about work, expectations, realities, and so on. Go on. Click the link. You know you want to. The charts will make it look like you ARE working rather than thinking deeply about what can make workplaces counterproductive or too much like opposite day. I’m going to find a way to work this into at least one class I teach next semester. The interplay of text and image is so apt while also forcing the audience to revisit foundational metaphors that shape our worldview. For example, I love that chart six illustrates existence as a plane.
